Student teams have finished their summer labor season at Rosatom’s facilities
Over 1,700 students were involved to visit nuclear construction facilities.
Student teams have finished their summer labor season at Rosatom’s facilities. During two summer months they have been dealing with such important nuclear power facilities as Mayak Production Enterprise (Ozyorsk, Russia); the Leningrad NPP (the Leningrad Region, Russia); Physics and Math National Center (the Nizhegorodskaya Region, Russia); Li-Ion Battery Factory (the Kaliningrad Region, Russia); the Pilot and Demonstration Power Facility (the Tomsk Region, Russia); etc. Apart from that, student team members were involved to joint work at foreign construction facilities: the Akkyuy NPP (Türkiye); the El-Dabaa NPP (Egypt); the Rooppur NPP (the Republic of Bangladesh); the Paks NPP (Hungary); and the Kudankulam NPP (India).
During the summer labor period, student teams performed general construction tasks and auxiliary tasks related to reinforcement and concreting. Students also worked with documents in production and technical departments. Every year, the number of participants in student construction projects at nuclear facilities only grows.
“The most important thing is that we are continuing a good tradition that had emerged back in the USSR, when young people have been taking part in the country's momentous construction projects and helped Soviet projects develop. And we have picked up this relay race. If we want to develop the society and want to educate patriotic youth, who love the Motherland, such construction projects as Peaceful Atom should continue.”
- Noted, General Director of Mayak Production Enterprise, Mr. Andrey Poroshin.
“Student teams made a great contribution to the implementation of the project of Siberian Photon Ring Source, Common Use Center, performing reinforcement, concrete and finishing works. In addition to labor activities, we participated in sports and creative activities. And the main thing is that students were able to get an idea of future professions.”
- Said, the commander of the All-Russian Student Construction Site of the Siberian Photon Ring Source, Common Use Center, Mr. Daniil Dolgoshein.

Over 16 years of strategic partnership, over 17,000 students have already passed through the student team system at Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, and 300 students have been employed. Construction team members gain valuable practical experience in erection of unique facilities. The state corporation has created a unique system for involving students, including a sectoral procedure for interaction with student teams and an annual rating among host organizations. Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation appreciates contribution of students to construction of nuclear facilities, and for special successes they present an industry award: “The Order for Contribution to the Development of Nuclear Industry Student Teams”, which gives them an advantage in employment in nuclear industry organizations.
Student construction teams of the nuclear industry are traditionally guided by Rosatom's CEMCP (Centre of Expertise for Major Construction Projects), the Department of Personnel Policy of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation together with Corporate Academy of Rosatom, ANO, and Russia’s Student Teams (RST) youth social agency. The project is designed to help students maximize their potential and provide them with a practical introduction to the construction industry and Rosatom's enterprises.
Rosatom's first student construction team was formed during erection of Unit No. 2 of the Rostov NPP in 2008 and consisted of 20 people. In 2014, Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation and RST signed a cooperation agreement, which gave a push to the development of construction student teams. Over 16 years, more than 17 thousand students have been involved in nuclear industry projects at 29 construction sites, 22 of which are in Russia and seven abroad (Türkiye, Belarus, China, India, Egypt and other countries). As a result, over 300 students have been employed in the nuclear industry.
Today, the Russian Government and major Russian companies pay great attention to systematic work to unlock the potential of students and young employees. Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation and its enterprises participate in creation of basic departments in Russian universities, implementation of scholarship support programs, major educational projects, organization of internships and traineeships for students with further employment. Young specialists learn new useful skills as part of the construction team movement, which helps them in their future career development.
