Rosatom's experts addressed the Roscosmos State Corporation online seminar «Remote Sensing of the Earth for Engineering Research, Design and BIM».
The online seminar was useful for survey engineers, designers, developers, managers and specialists of construction, engineering and investment companies wishing to expand their knowledge and competence in the application of modern geoinformation technologies and get new insights for their business.
Participants of the online seminar were Terra Tech JSC (as part of JSC «RSS», a subsidiary of the State Corporation «Roscosmos»), «GeoInfo» magazine, DVM, Geoscan Group, PJSC «Sberbank», Bentley Systems, State Corporation «Rosatom», Centre of Expertise for Major Construction Projects of Rosatom.
During the seminar the experts were able to discuss the use of remote sensing technologies, integrated UAV solutions at various construction projects, including ROSATOM projects and other topics of interest.
Valery Olkhovsky, Project Manager, spoke about the possibilities of using digital and unmanned technologies in the implementation of the capital construction projects of the State Corporation «Rosatom» in Russia and abroad.
The State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom has the world's largest portfolio of projects for the construction of nuclear energy facilities abroad, which consists of 36 units in 12 countries, worth about 130 billion dollars. Due to the current epidemiological situation, cooperation between Rosatom and Roscosmos is a promising and strategic direction.
In December 2018, during the Conference of Nuclear Construction Industry Representatives, the Russian Space Systems holding and Rosatom entered an agreement on cooperation in the field of informational ensuring of the State Corporation's activities using geoinformation services based on the Earth remote sensing technologies. Terra Tech JSC, a commercial operator of ERS and ERS based geoinformation services, will be engaged in the implementation of the agreement as a RSS company.
Specialists have been requested to create an industry remote monitor and control system in order to enable operational control of construction projects in Russia and abroad. The industry system is a platform solution that consists of several levels.
- The first level – high resolution space surveys.
- The second level – monitoring of the construction site using UAVs and laser scanning.
- The third level – analysis and processing of the received data to create reports, based on which the operational control of the construction process takes place.
The Rooppur NPP construction site in the Republic of Bangladesh was chosen as a pilot site for monitoring the project. An order was issued to launch this pilot, and it was also included in the implementation roadmap of the cooperation agreement between Minstroy of Russia and Rosatom, overseen by the General Director of Rosatom and the Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation.
Valery Olkhovsky told about specific cases of application of remote sensing technology in the Rosatom construction projects.
The industry system will not only increase the objectivity and reliability of information about the construction of Rosatom's facilities, but will also have a direct economic effect. According to experts, savings on a single construction project due to the introduction of a remote monitoring system can amount to 2-3% of the cost of building a nuclear power plant unit, which is about 2-3 billion rubles.
